SPN 501 Thoughts

Sep 12, 2009 18:58

I've got soooo many thoughts - but most of them are tied to spoilers. So there's a longer (no really. Longer.) version here WITH SPOILERS.

Basically I liked it and want more. Now.
Songs of the moment: Pink Floyd's On the Turning Away; Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire
Cut for tl; dr length )

Bobby breaking the demon hold is much more interesting to me. My thought was that John learned whatever mental trick it was from Bobby. But it might be a Michael Sword side effect - it's Dean about to be killed that's the common demoninator. My thought on the matter was this: In John's case and Bobby's case of being possessed, the demon made the mistake of letting the person see what was happening ( ... )

I agree. I was thinking it was more that with Bobby's background - he'd have taught John. "When it lets you see - you have to fight" but others pointed out that in the only two instances we've seen - Dean's been the one attacked.

If it *is* Dean - then they have to explain Meg in Born Under a Bad Sign.

So I'm sticking with Bobby and John kick ass. ;D

Bobby is so made of awesome he can overpower a demon. I love Bobby.
And even though Dean admits he was bluffing (and he has a GED- so cute!), that is so what has to happen. Humans are the wild card in all of this and neither the angels nor the demons really consider them to be more than insects/meat suits, and that is so gonna bite them in the ass. On that note, I'm pretty sure my song for this episode is going to be "The Uprising" by Muse.
I also would love Kripke forever if the mysterious power that saved Dean, Sam, and Cas turned out not to be God, but something older and more powerful (like some sort of Earth Goddess who has just about had it with all this shit), but I know that's just wishful thinking on my part.

*I think every song I've ever associated with Supernatural can be found under the " supernaturally musical" tag on my lj (yes, I have a tag for that).

ooo... I don't know that song

I'm not sure that if God shows up he'll even be GODGod or something like the Earth Goddess.

SCORE! I went to the convention and all the actors were saying they were surprised more guys were coming to the conventions (It's 99% women.)

I don't get it...why wouldn't guys like the show?

Don't know if they don't like it so much as they don't go to the conventions.

So much love for this episode, and I can't wait to see how things move forward from this.
I'm actually glad Sam got Dean to admit his feelings, because at least it means they're talking. Sam needed to know how Dean felt, as it will give him something to work with.

On the rewatch - Jared does SUCH a good job. The entire time Dean's talking - Sam is hurt but he nods. A silent, "Yes, I did that. That's fair." until Dean says he can't trust him. Then Sam gets wide eyed and just devastated for a split second before just setting his jaw and getting that determined look.

You know what it reminded me of? Faith. "You can't save me." "Watch me."

Oh, Dean's gonna be able to trust him. Just watch him.

Yeah.
I need to rewatch, but I did like how Jared handled that scene.

Hehe, I will have to look for that next time.

It's coming, I'm sure.
