bittersweet weekend

I'm at my Grandparent's house. Mom and Grandma went for a walk and Grandpa and I stayed and talked. My Grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease when I was in middle school. My grandmother had Alzheimer's (she died two or three years ago). I was never incredibly close to her, so her decline wasn't as bad as it must have been for you. The worst thing was seeing my dad when she didn't remember him (her son).

It's definitely not a glorious way to die.

Uhm, I am attempting to be empathetic with this post but I'm not sure how empathetic it is (not very good at this). I feel for you and have some idea of what you're going through (to a small extent, anyway).

Aww sweetie, I know how that feels...my dad asked my grandma what my name was when he pointed at me, and she just laughed; she had no idea. It hurts, but at least she's not going through any pain. I'm sure that's not much solace, but at least you can still visit her and be around her? That's something.
