Bibliophile (2006)

Following the habit I began last year, I kept track throughout 2006 of the books that I read. As I said last year at this time, I consider myself to be a fast reader and devourer of books, but I can't say that it's been true for the past year.

I read 43 NEW books last year. But keep in mind that I do not count romance novel in that (no idea why), so really, the total is probably closer to 60. Particular favorites were The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri, The Curious Incidient of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon, Hungry Planet: What the World Eats by Peter Menzel and Faith D'Alusio, and the Jasper Fforde books.

Let the 2007 list begin!

Did you/are you posting your book list? Given the specificity of "43", I presume that you kept track... and I'd be curious to see what you read :-)

As for romance novels, *shrug* I grant that they're like candy for the brain - sometimes they induce rot - but if I read it cover to cover, it counts for me.

And finally, given the peer pressure I'm experiencing on the topic of Jasper Fforde, I'm giving The Eyre Affair another shot! If I can get into it, I also have the next three books in the series at hand.
