Snarry Drabble: Letters Never Sent

Feb 06, 2007 00:21

Severus sits motionless in the tattered armchair next to a fireplace sparking with flames. Every now and then he shifts restlessly, disappearing further into voluminous black robes. Severus spends most days in the chair, awaiting a judgment that will never be passed. On occasion, he reaches for his wand, now long gone, and Harry takes the trembling ( Read more... )

while this was absolutely lovely, i don't know if i'll ever see the appeal of snarry. i've been reading a lot of different pairings the last week, trying to get a feel for what i like and don't like in the hp fandom, and the only person i've liked paired with snape was remus. set after sirius died, of course. don't get me wrong, snape is a great character and he really needs someone to hook up with and to love him after all he's been through, but.... i can't really see him with anyone, least of all harry. that seems to be the main pairing for the fandom, though, doesn't it? maybe i'm just weird.

Hon, you read what you like. I used to be quite narrow-minded re HP pairings and would only read Snarry, but I rather enjoy a bit of Remus/Sirius now and then, and I will even admit to having read Snape/Luna and, um, Harry/Ron/Narcissa/Pansy. Ahem. What? Really, so long as you aren't reading, like, Hagrid/Giant Squid, I say have fun!

The Giant Squid needs love, too!

*g*

In fic, I'm a Harry girl - I read Harry/Snape and Harry/Draco mostly. I guess I have a thing for couples who were enemies before ;)
I've also read some Harry/Charlie which I enjoyed very much. And some Fred/George *cough*
I'll read other pairings if the summary of the fic sounds promising, but I don't go searching for them. And I can't read any Ron/anyone, because for me he has this "younger brother / best friend in a completely non-sexual way" feeling and I just... can't.

I didn't say the Giant Squid didn't need love, I just don't need to read about it. *g*

Also, YES to the enemies thing. I totally get that. Um, and the Fred/George. HOT.

Thank you, loveliest Pip. Just a little practice for trying to write a longer fic. Fingers crossed and all that.

So sweet and sad!

*sighs*

I love them.

Ah, but Snarry wouldn't be Snarry if they weren't sad. (Or having lots of angsty sex, but that's not so easy in 100 words).

I love them too, but I am so scared for both of them come July.

Oh, I don't think that's always true! What about all the funny crack fic? I actually think Snarry can be really hilarious! Don't get me wrong, I love their fraught past and angsty angry love you/hate you dynamic, but I tend to internalize these things too much, I think, so I need to read a substantial proportion of funny/happy stuff or I get sad. Especially if I think about what might happen next.

*clings*

And that is why the Snarry fic I've started has the two of them finding a baby in a trash can after the war. CRACK OMG.

Yes, but I am such an angst whore, especially when it comes to Snarry. I do like a little variety it's true, but I rather prefer them angsty and hating each other. Now I'm wondering what exactly that says about me. Huh.

i think the appeal of snarry is the whole enemies, and tension thing (which is why i have such a hard time with snarry fluff, i dont want them to be lovey dovey and stuff because at their core there is friction, and thats what i like about the pairing)

plus the fact that it made j.k. choke on her drink adds to my ammusement of the pairing XD

truthfully i will enjoy almost any pairing if its written well, but thats just my stance on it lol

ps. interesting drabble O.o

Yep, definitely about the tension and utter dislike for one another. Beyond the fact that it's canon, it's just the way I prefer to read them. I enjoy a hard-won, grudging respect between them, so long as it isn't too fluffy, but ultimately, I like that they don't like each other. Wow. I didn't intend a wee little drabble to turn into Snarry meta or a defense of the pairing, but so much the better to get everyone's thoughts.

PS - Thanks.

Yeah, but you have to appreciate flisters who are willing to come over to the dark side branch out and read HP fic. :o)

A lot of history in very few words -- nicely done. I wonder about those letters. :)

I seem to be hellbent on the drabbles, yes. They're so much easier than long fic, which I usually never finish writing. The number of WIPs on my computer is staggering. And, you know, I think the fewer words the better when it comes to Snape and Harry. At least for me. Ah, the letters. Yes, well, there are those...

The drabbles are almost like stepping stones . . . before you know it, you'll have written a 10,000 words novella! Keep the Snarry coming -- there can never be enough of teh Snarry love.
