Oh neat! How do you like the Droid X, it's your first Android phone right? I'm going to pick up the HTC Evo when I can (bills + student loans keeping me tied up, sadly) but liked the Droid X too. (Not sure if I'd want to jump to Verizon though)

It's pretty cool. I'm still learning the ins and outs of it and like everything it's not 100% good but the problems are minor so far. It was tough getting it playing nice with my Macbook but I got that working after a while, and I can't figure out how to get instant messenger to pull from my contacts list, but it's certainly an improvement over my old dumbphone. The big-ass screen is certainly nice. I may root it later on, but apparently Moto put in some dingus that will brick the phone if you try and load custom roms? Though some people are saying that might not be true. Anyway barring the lack of a front-side camera (and who the fuck would I be video-calling) all the real 'issues' are more software gripes and they can fix a lot of it when the 2.2 update comes out later in the summer.

Ah yeah. It uses a custom UI, a new version of MotoBlur I think? I'm actually not a fan of the custom UI stuff, in some cases it drains the battery life more. If/When I get the HTC Evo I plan to root it and install 2.2 just in part to get rid of HTC's Sense UI. Yours has a virtual keyboard only, right? I'm still a little weird-ed out about no hardware keyboard. But anything would be better than this stupid Samsung-got-wet-in-a-tropical-storm-so-now-it's-even-worse-crap-phone.

The Blur thing is not nearly as intrusive as people make it out to be and you can straight up delete a lot of it. I wanted a physical keyboard too but the timing was right on this and the hardware is damn sexy.

If you can't go, you can't go. It's a situation I am very familiar with- I had to skip all the cons I had planned to go to this spring.
