After much cluster-fuckery, we are about to pick up
ioerror from the Ibrahim Khaleel border crossing at Zakho, Iraq. Jake's flight from Istanbul to Diyarbakir was delayed for several hours. Our usual driver, Mohammed, left after it appeared that his flight had landed with no Jake aboard. Somehow there was a mixup and they must have missed each other. Jake, intrepid individual that he is, chartered another driver to take him to the border and called me from Zakho to say he had made it. Jayme is en route to meet him now.
For those that don't know the full story, Jake is coming to Iraq for vacation. He therefore wins the award for the first person to visit me as a tourist in Iraq. His cojones know no limit of size nor mass, and all of you who claim to love adventure are clearly mere pedestrian homebodies.
Update Sat Apr 16 05:45:34 GMT 2005 from
slownewsday: "We have the Jake safely in hand and are returning to Arbil directly."
