I've watched the first couple of episodes (available on the website) but I'm not all that impressed. Does it take a while to get good? It certainly seems to have inspired rabid devotion in a lot of people and I want to support it if it's good but right now I'm just kinda meh...

The show picks up creative steam halfway through the season. The first half of the year, I was only just entertained enough to keep watching, most due to love of Hawkins. The second half of the year, they started hitting it out of the ballpark. There is a sort of "catch-up" special thing they did at midseason; if you can find that, I'd watch that, then just start at midseason. (Which, intelligently, is how CBS is going to start reairing the show in July.)

Do you know the name of the episode I should start with by any chance?? Thanks.

I can't recall the name of the special, but there's an ep called "Six Months Ago" that goes pre-premiere (and works a whole lot better than you'd think as set up) -- that may not be the first really good one but it is definitely right at the start of when the ball gets rolling.

Definitely agree with Yahtzee. The show really started getting better after it got back from it's stupid-long hiatus. Pretty much once it got rid of the whole "Oooh, these people are spooky" and actually explained why, exactly, we should care about them, it got good.
