Audient Silence

My dreams are getting progressively more and more strange as of late, I've noticed. And either there's a lot more of them now, I'm not getting enough REM sleep, or I'm just getting better at remembering them now. Or all of the above. It might be the lack of sleep in general.
The new theme seems be an ocean, or a readily large lake of sorts. And of ( Read more... )

When you're sleep deprived, the next time you sleep, you stay in REM sleep longer. The REM stage is when you dream. It makes total sense that you dream a lot because you are always sleep deprived. haha

Well, that's the thing. I'm taking 45 min-1 hour naps and apparently going into REM and managing to remember them.

It is actually really freaky and interesting at the same time, considering that they seem to involve me dying an awful lot in roughly the same manner, and me commiting a number of immoral/illicit acts for no apparent reason.

Mistborn Sample Chapters (SPOILERS, Jess, Bowen) phoenix_tears89 October 2 2008, 22:03:31 UTC
So, I just read the new Mistborn sample chapter...wow. Huh. I'm still kind of annoyed at Elend being so much more powerful than Vin, even though I'd somewhat reconciled myself to the fact. Still, the last sentence really bothered me..."Elend had won"? I mean, doesn't Vin get ANY credit? She'd better develop some awesome hemalurgical powers pronto, because I will be seriously peeved if she becomes redundant...:-P

Relative powers aside, however, Vin was still pretty awesome in that chapter...and the fact that Kelsier was mentioned several times even in the middle of a fight scene gets mad props from me...:)

Oh, and on a related note...I suppose you know you've read way too much medieval fantasy (ASoIaF, I'm looking at you) when you see "twenty years old" and your first reaction is "huh, Vin's kind of gotten past her prime..."

Oh, and I assume Vin called for Elend to soothe the Koloss rather than doing it herself because he's a much more powerful allomancer. I suppose they could have worked together, but there's a good chance Vin couldn't do it on her own.

And what's this about an alternate ending?

See, I'm either thinking it's that but Vin did it fine last time with roughly the same number of koloss back in WoA, though she did need to burn duralumin to get to through. Albeit, it seems like it's not a required thing to actually snag control of the koloss since Elend wasn't burning duralumin at all. I mean, he is supposed to be pretty good at Soothing and Rioting, but still. I'd just like to think of it as a way to get Elend more power and be recongized more as the king.

Oh, Sanderson wrote another ending to Mistborn way back when, and he's posting it on Oct. 14th. Except we don't know what time on Oct. 14th, which means I might be up very, very late...

I know; Elend just shouldn't be more powerful than Vin. I mean, he even beat out an Inquisitor in a steel Push...That's just really pushing it.
See, I don't know if that just meant that she's gotten used to the whole being a 'tool' idea, or if she's more into the idea of Elend being king and all...I would be really peeved too, but she's going to be the Hero of the Ages (however that works, as it is) and the forums have been going crazy trying to find some hemalurgical relation to Reen/the earring Vin has. Cause Sanderson did say that Reen did have a part to play and all, and hemalurgy has yet to be really sorted out, but since the process of making Inquisitors was revealed, it'd make sense that it could be related and all...GAH.

Vin's gotten amazingly better at fighting, and was just awesome enough to the point of facing off an Inquisitor without too much fear. And seeing her back in action doing her things...*happy*

Well, Cersei is pretty old and still in her 'prime'. Although it is odd to think of Vin as past twenty...
