Another part of the giantest review of The Winter Soldier ever - this time it's about the costumes and design. Not sure I agree about the fights. I mean yeah, they could have been a little less shaky in places but they did not approach the level of shaky-cam that makes me twitch and there were plenty of spots where they paused to give us a breather ( Read more... )

I was mildly annoyed by the shaky fight scenes just because I love fight scenes and I want to actually SEE all the cool moves, but whatever. Director's choice. But when we saw it in 3D, the shaky kind of made me want to barf.

I thought 3D might make them look messier but it didn't bother me. Maybe our print was brighter or something. The crappy dark prints are usually the problem I have with 3D in the first place but for once it looked just like the regular print only...3Der. Not saying I couldn't have done with a little less of it because the choreography is incredible and all of it should be seen. Of course in an actual fight with two guys moving that fast you probably wouldn't catch everything. Now I'm just babbling.

We saw it in 3D, which I usually stay away from because HELLO MIGRAINE FROM HELL. But I hardly noticed the change in this one. It was very easy for my eyes to adjust to, and I only had the normal post-movie headache, rather than the two-day hellspawn 3D usually causes.

I liked Falcon's stuff in 3D especially. And the helicarriers at broadsides. And...I really need to go see this thing again.
