Hey- I wanted to ask you something because I remembered your little girl weaned before you were planning, and I have a nasty feeling that that is going to happen to me... Do you then have to give them a bottle feed until they're a year old? Or do you just shove food and juice down their throat? Kind of a dumb question, now I think about it, but I'm so freaked by my damn Paediatrician that I have no idea!

We formula fed her up until she turned one then phased out the formula to whole milk. BUT! We slowly phased in feeding her solids at B/L/D so it would coincide with our meals and get her used to sitting at the table with us. After she ate her fill of purees, we would then follow it up with a bottle of formula.

Don't force the purees and cereal. In fact, I started out by mixing a little cereal with a little BM (or formula) and then eventually started adding purees until she got used to the taste and feel of it.

What's your ped saying??

Since my Paediatrician of Doom seems to focus mainly on freaking me out rather than being helpful (sample quote from last time: "Now go away, come back in three months, and make her head bigger." How on earth I'm supposed to do that, she did not bother to explain, and I had got to a point where I didn't bother to ask!), I am asking other people for advice... and have the address of a new paediatrician to call ( ... )

I mixed formula with BM until my supply was gone. While it was still her primary source of liquids, I think we introduced juice when we started introducing a sippy cup, but only a little at a time and we added a little water to it so that it wasn't full strength. I'm not one that worries too much about her getting too much juice, even now we seem to have a good balance between milk and juice...with juice usually at snack times and once in awhile at breakfast and supper.

I would keep offering Z BM/formula as a primary source of drink until one year when you introduce milk. But if you wanted to introduce juice now, I don't think it would hurt.

Kaitlyn didn't like the spoon either but she got used to it as we introduced more purees. Keep trying! It sounds like you are doing fine!
