I bet you all thought it was just an urban myth that doctors and radiologists keep the really interesting (or hilarious) ones to share and show at parties...

Ok. In case you're not familiar with girly things, when we have our pap tests, they use this little darling on us. It's called a duck-billed speculum, and is designed for girly bits (you'll understand the underlining in a minute):
I used to have a horrifying CT of someone whose nasogastric tube (a tube they use to put food in you when you can't swallow) ended up in their skull. Ooops.
you *were* warned, my child. anyway, you should know the way our whole family thinks and what we discuss over the dinner table by now, shouldn't you? [you could always ask my Beloved if you could borrow his DVD's of Gunter.. not just the sries already shown on TV, but also his autopsy series. absolutely fascinating! or next time UQ has an Open Day, go check out the exhibits in the path lab]
Well, if nothing else, at least there's some realistic views of the human pelvic girdle and where and how the sacrum meets up with it ... Oh, and for the above pelvic shots, the sexes are: Vibe #1 male, vibe #2 female, vibe #3 male, shot glass male, glass bottle male (are we sensing a pattern?). The vaginal shot is, obviously, a female. If you look at the angle under where the pubic symphyses meet at the front (the little gap that we discussed which is filled with cartiledge) boys are a lot narrower than girls; you can tell about vibe #2 because the entire cavity within the girdle is a lot rounder and wider in general than the boys above and below. More human anatomy knowledge for your file.
Sorry for the squick, which one did it? All of them, or one in particular? I must admit I really did have a true moment of "OMGWTF?!? Ewwwwww..." with the auto-enucleation, and that hasn't happened for a few years, so if it can get *me*, I'm not surprised if others had a bit of a green episode.
all good - I was, as your mum pointed out - squick-warned. Not sure which one in particular. Probably just the combination, and the brainhurty of the whole "youdonewhatwithawhonow?"
