My Life in the End is Not Very Interesting

Mar 31, 2009 11:30

I know I haven't been posting much lately, but I've just been kind of feeling eh lately about posting because I don't feel like I have anything of interest to share. My life is pretty much the same day in and day out without much of major change. I haven't had a job in nearly two years so I don't have the anecdotes of workdom to share. I don't ( Read more... )

Well, to me at least, the small things ARE interesting. Planting Roma tomatos or finding something good to read or watch on TV or sitting in the waiting room during your Grandmother's appointment... these are the little things that make up life--not the big things. But if you don't find these things interesting yourself, nor will anyone else. It's unfair to expect that, perhaps?

In your replies to some of my posts, you often take a bit of a negative slant. You're never rude, but I tend to feel as if the happy experience or memory that I've written about has made you even more unhappy. I never quite know how to respond to those replies, but I certainly would never unfriend you for it.

Hang in there. Don't compare yourself with others. Focus on enjoying the small things; it's not your job to entertain or interest others.

Dave, it's not that the happy experience makes me more unhappy (or maybe it does) it's just that I wish I were there to experience it with you ( ... )

I totally understand, having lived in West Virginia for three years. I was SO happy to move away. At first, the idea of living in a distant burb of DC while still working there sounded fun. Before long, we both just felt more and more isolated from EVERYTHING considered "fun."

That feeling went away when we moved, though I know that the timing isn't right for you to move right away. Just know that it'll eventually be an option for you. LJ for me (while in WVa) was one outlet. There were a few times it actually helped me stay sane--especially when the lawn required mowing twice a week. :-)

Yeah. ..LJ and Facebook are definitely my lifelines and outlets. If it weren't for them I don't know what I'd do.

IAWTC. You just need to be yourself and not worry about entertaining other people. Those of us who like you, do so because we like who you are.

I can totally relate. I've been in a rather 'blah' mood recently myself. I started composing a journal entry, which I saved as a draft that I'll finish at some point that explains my current frustrations, etc. I'm sorry to hear you had an LJ friend, de-friend you, that's happened to me before over (in my mind a minor disagreement over something trivial). I wouldn't let it bother you too much. You've got plenty of friends that do obviously enjoy reading your journal, myself included (even if I don't comment often, which has been the case recently with most of my lj friends and online activity in general).

Thanks Steven, and one of these days I'll make it up to Spartanburg so that we can go out and do something. :-)

Hiya Gregory

Hope this isn't an intrusion - an LJ user called ttnato added me as a friend an i was trying to find out who it is - your post was at the top of his/her friends list - naturally i read it =\ can you enlighten me as to who ttnato is because there's noting in the user info?

what are you knitting? i've always enjoyed knitting - all the family and many friends too have scarves and beanies with a twist and i've supplied enough ski jumpers to last them a lifetime over the years

i love gardening too although my garden is rather different to yours i think - a forest and the foods native - full of birds and frogs - i'm in Australia btw - have never been to your part of the world ...

would like to hear from you if you feel like it

hope you're on an up day =))

cheers - Robbie

Thanks Robbie, it's nice to hear from someone down under. As to ttnato I have no idea who that is, one reason why I never added them back. . .and would remove myself off their list if I could. . .I think they're nothing more than spam most likely.

Anyway I like to knit scarves and beanies. . I actually just finished knitting myself a Dr. Who scarf. Do you have Ravelry? My id there is ghstlght.

I've always been been fascinated with Australia and have wanted to visit myself. . .one day.
