HOUSEWARMING

Sep 02, 2011 13:52

After a fortnight in-country, Edgar's finally secured a flat and Miller is set to move in with him. This calls for a housewarming party, GHPers: Miller's idea mainly because she's the one with, you know, friends... but Edgar's never one to turn down an excuse to get stonkingly drunk.

It's a nice place; split-level, modern, airy. Guests will also ( Read more... )

The main living space is probably where most of the action’s going to be. There’s music (oh, the music) and seating if you want it, and forms of entertainment as long as your characters bring/provide them… also, you can assume most meet-and-greets are taking place here as the door leads straight in.

MILLER-- INTRO spintosurvive September 2 2011, 13:12:31 UTC
Waiting excitedly for the others to arrive, Miller alternates between hovering by the door and leaning against the baby grand, a content smile on her face.

Edgar's not at all sure about the party and comforts himself with the thought of all of that alcohol he now has an excuse to consume. At least Miller's looking happy, he supposes. Which is nice of him to think of. He's already made himself his first drink of the night (a raspberry mojito; not too campy, right?) and seems fairly relaxed.

At one of the times Miller is leaning against the piano (which he sort of considers his piano), he says while looking faintly amused, "I'm all up for party antics, but please make sure your friends keep their hands off of the piano." Yes. Her friends.

She's actually feeling pretty happy, honestly, in the presence of so many of her friends.

She smiles back at him, not bothered enough by his wording to bring her down quite yet, "I'll be sure to let them know, my Lord. Are you enjoying yourself?"

KITCHEN craving_gold September 2 2011, 12:52:49 UTC
There’s food around, but mostly it’s alcohol. Gallons of the stuff. Edgar takes his booze seriously. Probably enough things around to make most cocktails imaginable. And some you really wouldn’t want to imagine. The kitchen is also well-known as where the sensible folk and wallflowers hang out during parties. Until cake gets thrown.

*Parties--not Beast's thing. It gets awkward when people expect him to be cool. The party at his house had been an ambush, and that hadn't had nearly the level of...poshness this thing had.
He needed a drink.
A hard drink.
Or two*

[She's in the kitchen, wisely not attempting to actually make anything but just bringing the cake out of the fridge. When he comes in and begins to pour, she raises her brow in his direction.] Alright, B?

I'm fine. Just, you know, thirsty. *And, you know, not a fan of sparkly, sparkly counters and pianos and suchlike. He feels hopelessly out of place*

BALCONY craving_gold September 2 2011, 12:53:37 UTC
The place has a balcony, and it’s definitely a better spot for escape and privacy than the kitchen. A nice enough view, but it will get colder out as the night goes on.

IN WHICH MD DOES HER TYPICAL ESCAPE-FROM-THE-PARTY ANTICS spintosurvive September 2 2011, 13:18:50 UTC
Don't be mistaken-- Miller loves a good party, especially when the other GHPers are involved. But there's almost always a point in time where she'll find the need to take a breather from the madness that typically ensues.

That point has come, and she's leaning with her arms on the balcony railing as she stares out to the city below, just thinking. There's a half-empty flute of champagne resting on the small table they have, which she'll take the occasional sip from as she ponders.

She also seems to have neglected to bring out anything to protect her from the cooler night air.

Well, that's what gentlemen's suit jackets are for.

"Cupcake?" He's already pulling his coat off as he steps onto the balcony, not willing to put up with any protest as he reaches to settle his jacket over her shoulders. "Doing okay? Just taking a break?"

The Tailor certainly needed to. He was having fun--he always had fun at these sorts of things--but the constant way his Princess was downing those drinks was starting to rub him the wrong way. Cool air would help.

She's been smiling all night-- admittedly in a more fake manner at some points-- but there's a certain and very real brightness to the one that shows on her face when he makes his presence known. One hand reaches up to pull the jacket a little better around her, even as she inquires, "You sure you don't need it?"

And the smile becomes a hair smaller, quieter, at the query, "Doing fine. Just needed a moment outside." Because her own King seemed to be falling even farther under the influence with every moment she remained within.

"Are you okay?"

What are you doing sitting on the stairs, chump? Or locking yourself in the bathroom? Not crying, right? Right. Or even more inappropriately, I guess you could go up into the bedroom, but no funny business, alright? It’s just where the coats are being kept. :|

Loitering outside (NOT LIKE A CHUMP) atoneblow September 3 2011, 03:16:28 UTC
These were his friends. This was a house-warming party for his friends with the rest of his friends. All of this was good and awesome and people moving forward toward their amazing fantastic sparkly Happy Ending or whatever the hell.

So why was he outside staring up?

Who knew. He didn't know. But someone was going to have to give him the push to get him actually inside, it seemed.

That someone seemed to be the Miller's Daughter, who had been looking for him just so happened to glance outside a few minutes after he began his loitering and opened the door with a large, albeit somewhat concerned, smile.

"Hey, VLT. This is the right place, if you were wondering."

Well, if that wasn't the thing to light up his smile. His smiling poker face was much better than hers--much more practice.

"It didn't look enough like a palace. Wasn't sure Edgar would agree to live here without it having at least fifty more turrets. Fifty."

But he was already the rest of the way up the steps and reaching for a hug.
