I heard a group of you went into the forest and discovered something there. Something I may be able to help with. Please contact me here, or arrange for a meeting place so we can talk. I would like to know more.

Also, Jack? Alex? I heard you went into the tunnels too. Did you both make it out in one piece?

Did you find anything?

[He says as he unslings his rifle from its place on his back. Nothing to worry about, so long as his weapon was in hand.]

[She hesitates, shifting her weight from foot to foot as she glances from the forest and back to this stranger she just met.]

I--I can't. [She winces, hearing how pathetic that sounded to her own ears, so she elaborates.] Not without Derek. [She feels awful, especially when such a situation presented itself, but she knew something would go wrong, and Derek would blame her or this other fellow here. Even when he looked like he knew what he was doing. Still, she would hear nothing but 'stupid Chloe' and 'dumb Chloe' for the next month, and Derek would never let her out of his sight--which she was not about to put up with in a place like this.]

What's your name? Are you a soldier?

[Chloe opens her mouth, then shuts it. How lame would it sound, not doing something because of a boyfriend. Still. One would need to understand the entire situation, and all they had been through.]

Significant other. [Sounded better than boyfriend, right? More mature?] We made a promise, and I intend to keep it. Besides, if I do anything, it's nice to know he's got my back.

[Something like that?] Do you explore the area often? We could exchange info, if you like, as we gain it. I am usually always up for exploring or information gathering. [So long as she wasn't being careless.]

[He checks the rifle -- safety. Heat sinks. Firing mechanisms.]

There's not much out there to worry about. Just a few crawling vines. If you keep your guard up, you'll be fine.

[Blinks, does a double take, waits for a second, then the pieces fall together. Well, he obviously isn't human.] A deer is an animal normally found in forests. They're about this tall. [Motions with a flat hand.] Where I come from they are pretty docile. Here they have fangs and... I think they aren't afraid to attack people. Whatever they are, they are not friendly.

[Blinks, startled again but for a different reason this time.] I do. We met underground, in the tunnels.

Are they armored? Heavy? Any biotics or other natural weapons?

[Because, let's be honest. The turian is holding a hefty assault rifle in his hands, and is well-armored. He doesn't look too worried about any deer.]

[A nod.] It wasn't just me. Derek and Sollux and Little Boy were down there, too. We hadn't realized how long we were down there. You know her, too?

Ah. Commander Shepard. She must be a pretty good officer to follow. [Chloe and Derek like her, anyway.]
