When I first saw your photos yesterday, I thought the robe was brown. Now I see it's more of a copper color. Do you have any brown fabric you could do a belt with? Or gold? (I'm looking at picking up colors in the fabric)
It was supposed to be burgundy (I bought it on internet), but it has a more brown/orangy colour. Unfortunately I don't have any brown, but I just rescued some burgundy taffeta I was going to throw away. Later I will check if it looks decent with the gown. I also have a scrap of the gold baroque taffeta (see here: http://ghost-ofa-rose.livejournal.com/64499.html#cutid1) left, but I don't think it will be the right colour. So I just keep searching through my stash :D.
Probably the best idea is to pull everything out of the stash, and start laying fabric down next to it. Don't think just because the color doesn't match, that it won't look nice on it. I saw some that were a totally opposite color and they looked great.
I guess you're right. Maybe I should be looking at a totally different colour. I do have a lot of dark green taffeta. That might look okay. I'm going to try it tomorrow in daylight. Thanks for all your input!
Thank you! I like it too now. And to think I wasn't too crazy about both fabrics when they were delivered (I bought them both on the internet). The dusty pink silk taffeta was much lighter than I expected. You're right, it resembles more an ivory colour than a pink colour. And the burgundy embroidered taffeta wasn't really burgundy at all. It has a brown/orangy tone to it. And because this is a stash project I'm making it difficult for myself. I can't buy fabric, so I have to use what's in my stahs and I'm not sure if I have anything that matches. I have some (real) burgundy taffeta and a scrap of gold baroque taffeta. I will try later if any of those looks good enough

So what about construction tips? Does the copper part close separately or is it sewn to the ivory?
