Sign #1 that I've been spending too much time with the pets lately: A few blocks from home, the car dinged its low fuel warning. I reached over, patted the dash, and mumbled "Hush, I'll feed you in the morning, okay?" And then realized I was talking to a vehicle. :P

In completely unrelated news, box-mix pineapple cake just barely drizzled with Grand ( Read more... )

Hey, desserts have *every* right to be delicious!

Isn't it normal to talk to inanimate objects to "encourage" them? Granted, most of my encouragement ends up using four-letter words...

Perfectly normal... it's expecting a response that's a little iffy! :P

Hey, amazon.com recommended this to me the other day. Thought of you when I saw it: Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone

Yup, got it. (Mom tries to find *every* new Ma CD that comes out.) While all the music is good, it's mostly all "nostalgic" stuff, the singing, lyrical melodies with the rich orchestral background. I'd prefer the hard, rhythmic stuff of Morricone's. (i.e. "The Ecstacy of Gold": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdNh9f2Wwm0&feature=related)

If you ever watch any of the Leone/Morricone movies, note how the music almost dominates the movie. (See above link.)

Hmm, and that clip seems like it would be easy to adapt for a soloist, too. Well, who knows the rationale behind people's artistic choices. (I see your YouTube video and raise you one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3gp7B8WC4Q&feature=related :D)

I've seen a few. Normally I hate it when a score is too prominent, but yeah, in the Leone/Morricone films it works. Maybe because the music isn't competing with other audio or a lot of onscreen action most of the time... it's more an organic part of the movie, not a distraction.
