Extra depressed thanks to my period. So to stop myself from being way too emotional about certain fandoms (Sherlock) and ranting nonsensically about things, I'm distracting myself with another show ( Read more... )

Which ones have you skipped? (Looking at the S3 ep list, there don't seem to be that many vital ones, so you're probably good.)

FWIW, the Wikipedia Episode Guide does list which character(s) each ep is centered on.

I've skipped a lot of them actually. That list is what I'm going off of now, it's quite useful. I don't know when it gets more continuity plotty but I'm guessing it's not much in season three.

Cool cool cool. IIRC it really kicks off around mid-season 4 with the Homefront two-parter. I'd think re: Dominionplot the most important s3 eps would be:

3x01 The Search, Part I
3x02 The Search, Part II
3x05 The Abandoned
3x09 Defiant
3x20 Improbable Cause
3x21 The Die is Cast
3x26 The Adversary

Oh excellent, thanks for that list. I tried to watch Defiant earlier, but I don't particularly care for Riker (or clone Riker??) so I gave up on it. I'm going to check those others out now though. :D

Ice cream doesn't help me much. Mind altering substances however are much more preferable for distracting from depression.

DS9 is a lot of fun. I haven't ever watched the whole thing though, but I've seen tons of random episodes. Kira is made of total awesomeness!

I have a lot of love for DS9 - I know I'm the only one that thinks it was the best series in the Star Trek franchise - but I haven't seen it since it originally aired.

I'm not a huge ST person, but I've seen enough of all of them to definitely say DS9 is the best Star Trek series in my opinion too.

I <3 DS9 so much. I did a re-watch a few years back of the entire series and loved it. There are eps that aren't as important to the main plot/sub-plots but some of them are just fun and good. Also, you don't want to skip any eps when you get to the Dominion war, all those eps from that point on (even the few that are stand-alones) are really great. Kira is still to this day, one of my all time favorite characters :)

I am excited to finally get to the actual Dominion war stuff, because most of the DS9 I had seen before had been earlier stuff. I suspect things will get good soon, I'm excited.

I forgot how awesome Kira was, but even in just watching a handful of episodes with her I remembered what a strong, complex character she is!

Indeed and of all the characters, I think she really had the best development. I love the strong person she became from the angry young Bajoran at the beginning. I'd go as far to say that she's one of all of the Trek's most complex characters but then again, I am biased :P
