So a few days ago I mentioned that my boyfriend started watching Merlin. Well he's still watching it and I've caught a few more. And in my desperate quest to find something to do tonight when I was extremely bored, I started watching the parts that interest me.  I have therefore spent the entire evening watching only the parts or episodes of the

I have several friends on my FL who watch Merlin and just love it. I've caught it on a couple times but it never really grabbed my attention though it is on my list of shows to catch up on at some point.

Yeah. From what I've seen it's not a great show really. It's an okay show and it can be sort of fun or interesting at times. It can also be somewhat boring, full of character (and of course plot) inconsistencies or just too stupid to watch sometimes. But there's some appeal to it, but if you're looking for deep or complex fiction, Merlin is not the place I would look!

My favorite things about Merlin, in order:
1. Merlin/Arthur (and the slashy slashy subtext in all their scenes)
2. Arthur/Gwen (PRETTY PRETTYNESS IS PRETTY!)
That's it, those are the reasons I watch. I used to watch in hopes that someone would find out Merlin is magic (I *LOVE* secret-reveals), but I gave up that dream in s3. So now it's just for the crack and the shippyness.

I finally saw the episode your icon came from, and now it amuses me even more!

Also I can totally agree with your reasons for watching, except mine are reversed. I am more entertained by canon ships (because I have no imagination? who knows why) so I do really like the Gwen/Arthur stuff (they are the prettiest ever! And I used to think Arthur was so bland looking). I would love it if there was canon Arthur/Merlin but the world is too disappointing for that to ever happen.

I'm usually more entertained by canon ships too, but Arthur/Merlin are so freaking obvious they practically ARE canon. :D
And I still don't find Bradley James attractive in pictures, but when he's acting (and especially around Gwen) he gets weirdly pretty. Strange, that.
