Our second tourist trip in California was a bit less clichéd than Disneyland: the place where the Mojave Desert and Colorado Desert meet, in Joshua Tree National Park.

I agree - I don't know whether that was fortunate or unfortunate either. But I wouldn't mind that diplodocus for the garden!

That looks beautiful - I'd love to visit, partly because I enjoyed Grand Theft Parsons so much.

While I knew about that story, I hadn't seen the movie and didn't realise that it was Joshua Tree National Park that was the destination. Interesting!

I would recommend visiting if you get the chance.

Google Street View actually covers some of the park, so it's possible to have a bit of a look around, albeit it's nothing like being there. Here's a link to Skull Rock that I meant to include in the article. We drove past it repeatedly, and camped within walking distance, and I managed to miss it each time :-(
