World Porridge Day

Today is World Porridge Day, which is being promoted by Mary’s Meals. Mary’s Meals provide a daily meal of maize porridge (likuni phala) to some of the world’s poorest children. It makes a bigger difference than you might think - for many children it’s the meal that allows them to attend school.

Nice tartan, both!

All this talk of porridge is making me want flapjacks...

Today, Fraser is modelling the Black Watch tartan, while Gavin is in the McGregor. (Thanks!)

I did try some porridge, and I still hate it. Flapjacks are the way to go.

I wondered if it was Black Watch! It is badass tartan :)

(Oddfellows are great, BTW. Having to keep them in a high cupboard to ration myself.)

I think Oddfellows are my favourites of the ones I sent you, but they do divide opinion so I'm glad you like them :-)

Porridge is fine; tartan tends to be tasteless, though... The MacLeod of Lewis that puts the "loud" in "MacLeod" still gives me nightmares.

Well, you don't get much more restrained than the Black Watch, and I've always thought I've lucked out with the McGregor - it's bright, but not "McLeod bright", and with large squares it avoids the fussiness of other tartans too. A so-called hunting variety helps too.

The one that really gars me grue is the Buchanan - bright, brash, and asymmetrical.

Black Watch and variants are fine; but anything that requires sunglasses to be looked at with comfort is plain disturbing.
