Poor Chuck! First he loses Nate, his best friend to the likes of Dan Humphrey.
Then later on, Chuck again loses Blair (his ex-girlfriend and his soulmate) to Dan, on the basis she prefers 'Lonely Boy's,' company, because he at least is mature.
And naturally Chuck sports the exact same expression of disgust and that of shock when realizing he's all alone because his friends choose someone else over him.
At least, that's what I think.

IT'S NOT HIGH SCHOOL ANYMORE CHUCK! GROW THE FUCK UP! If you don't want your friends and family to abandon you, act like a grown-up! Of course, both chose Dan over him: Dan takes responsibility for his mistakes, doesn't belittle or manipulate them (& Chuck has openly done both to Nate and Blair) and he values Nate and Blair's friendship and hobbies. (Whereas Chuck discounts anything as unimportant unless it relates back to him.)
No wonder why Ed loathes playing Chuck so much nowadays. We are four seasons in and everybody else has been allowed to mature and change, but him. (Even Serena, despite her constant flakiness, has demonstrated she is still compassionate.) (Don't worry Ed! I still think you're talented despite the fact that Chuck is a crappy, uninteresting character nowadays.)
