The Surge

Mistakes have been made, and I'm glad that Bush has finally admitted that. In the planning and execution of Iraq, some things have gone wrong. That is not debatable. We were right in going into Iraq in the first place. That shouldn't be debatable. But no matter what one might think of Iraq, we are firmly committed now, and need to finish the job. "We were right in going into Iraq in the first place. That shouldn't be debatable."

You're wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

"We are at war with Islamic extremists who pervert their religion in order to justify murder, oppression, and destruction."

So we invade Iraq, a place not previously known as a haven for extremists, fail to secure the country, and then allow it to become CHOCK FULL OF EXTREMISTS. Makes sense.

"Unfortunately, I fear that until Americans accept the fact that we are at war, we will continue to fight in a half-ass manner."Wait, wait. Who were the people who said, "No, we don't need that many troops. The Iraqis will welcome us as liberators. It'll be a cakewalk?" I believe that was the stupid fucks who started this thing. If we've fought in a half-ass manner, it's because the war was planned in a half-ass manner, and has nothing to do with whether Americans accept this sham war ( ... )

Wow, great arguments Tommy. They were all coherent and rational and supported by evidence. Oh wait, they weren't. See, the problem with Bush haters (which includes most of the current Democratic party, unfortunately), is that they won't acknowledge a very simple fact: Iraq is not the major issue. Iraq is only one campaign in a long and brutal struggle against Islamic fascism. A fight which was started almost thirty years ago, when the Iranian revolution happened in 1979. The West has been passive in this fight, while the enemy has attacked us at every chance. Each time killing more people, and using ever more sophisticated tactics. The culminating event was September 11, when America briefly opened her eyes and saw reality. Sadly though, we have now become dormant again, leaving ourselves vulnerable to another, even more brutal attack. As for your supposed arguments ( ... )

Answers to your questions...

1. Were those jihadists from Iraq?

2. Under siege from jihadists hailing from Iraq? Nope.

3. Already banging that war drum for Iran, huh?

4. Do I look like I care if the Democrats have a plan? This war should never have been prosecuted. Whether it's winnable, and whether the Democrats could win it is immaterial. It's a failure. Bush is just biding his time so someone else can land the helicopters in the Green Zone to carry away the last troops.

By the way, does everyone in Kalamazoo have duct tape and plastic on the windows and a gas mask hanging from the hat rack. Or is it just you?
