Sit down, have a cup of coffee. Do you want some cake? I have cake. And cookies.

Hey! I have some new LJ friends. And for the first time in many years I have to make a little introduction. I like long walks in the park, summer rain, mom's chili... wait... that's a playboy profile ( Read more... )

I loved reading your synopsis! Thank you for that. I have a friend (on FB and LJ) who I think you should meet. I will ask her if it is OK to make the introduction. You have a lot in common.

Thank you. (it is fun to read your journal and slowly getting to know you.) Who is this friend? Tell me more.

I spoke out of turn, I'm sorry. She is a rather private person and doesn't want to make any new friends right now. She might change her mind at some point, but for now, she prefers to remain anonymous.

Despite having been connected to you here for years, I quite enjoyed reading your introduction. I am having a hard time believing you've been in England for 4 1/2 years. It seems like only a year or two ago.

What is this book you're reading on German culture?

The book is called, "Germany: Memories of a Nation". It is a book I have been reading off and on for about six months. Because it is one of those books that is like that. It is breath-taking at times.
It does feel strange to think of how long I have been in England. It doesn't seem very long at all.

They are the absolute worst.

The thing is in England their idea of a milkshake is milk with some chocolate syrup mixed in it or something. Not proper ice cream. Though sometimes places will add the milkshake and then a bunch of other things so the milkshake ends up kind of grainy or messy, and then your straw ends up being clogged with assorted things. I want to take everyone to Don's Pharmacy and say, "Experience this. Now you will know." I mean heck even a trip to Red Robin will sort folks out.

I have to ask: HOw did you avoid Olive Garden? That's a feat.

I grew up in a rural area that was at least 45 minutes away from one. There were better places to eat if we were going to drive that far.
It was kind of random luck. I am good at avoiding places. Heck I have never been to Red Lobster.
