The small animal has a bright orange harness on, there is a leash attached, and he's slowly walking down the sidewalk as Poffertje investigates various plants, cracks in the sidewalk,

[He can never find the man when he actually really wants to find him. Lucas seems to be channeling some sort of inner super-speed when he zooms up to the Netherlands.]

Mr. Netherlands! ...H-How are you?!

[This is asked a little more frantically than one would normally ask that question.]

[Ugh Lucas, don't remind him, he'll stop patting and simply let his hand rest on Lucas' back.]

I wish I hadn't shot Japan.

If he was a zombie...

I had to kill a lot of them, too.

[He'll reach over and give Poffertje a few strokes along his ear. He heard what Lucas was saying but . . . what if Japan didn't come back.]

[a_gentle_boy]

[Lucas holds Poffertje quietly for a little bit.]

.....When you left the first time, I thought I'd never get over it.

[gezellighe]

[Netherlands scoots a bit closer.]

Mmm.

After a little while... I thought it was better that you were back home, though. Where you could be happy with your family.

[gezellighe]

I think that too.

But going home means never seeing you again, or Canada or anyone.

...Yeah. But, I mean... You wouldn't remember, anyway, so...

[Despite this supposedly being reassuring, Lucas looks pretty miserable.]

[gezellighe]

[Scooting all the way over, he'll lean a little and set his arm around the boy's shoulders.]

We're both here right now.

[a_gentle_boy]

[...Lucas nods in affirmation after a little bit, turning his head up with a smile.]

Yeah.

Maybe we shouldn't think so much about what might be or what could be. Just about... what is.

It might be best.

[Anyway, talking to Lucas did help him feel a bit better about Japan. Japan might be gone, but there were still enough people to watch out for here.]

[a_gentle_boy]

[After a little while, Lucas will lean his head on the Netherlands's shoulder. Poffertje will continue to receive slow pats.]

[He's very content; after a few minutes he'll carefully slouch just a little so it's more comfortable for Lucas. There's a part of him that would like to take Lucas home and not let him out of his sight.]

[Lucas doesn't seem to notice, as he closes his eyes. He will hold Poffertje silently in his lap.]

[Holland is content to stay here as long as Lucas is. Eventually Poffertje will squirm a bit and want to get down on the ground.]
