Oh, gee, you're right, everyone is totally not going because we don't realize the EPIC impact it could have. That's the reason we're not going. Not the bad economy, living thousands of miles away, having jobs/priorities, or the fact ( Read more... )

Actually in the beginning, Cosplay Oneesan used to be about cosplay, thus the name. Now it's all about Japanese street fashion. I think they're working on getting a new name though.

It's not a cosplay event. Read before you post a gtfo?

Actually, if you had read MY post, you would've seen I just don't get how some Lolita event at a cosplay thing is going to effect the course of lolita as we know it.

Read with comprehension. It does wonders.

By cosplay thing, I meant the thing with cosplay in the title.

Unless your comprehension is so off you think Cosplay Oneesan doesn't have cosplay in the title. (Which is an interesting theory in and of itself.)

It wasn't an advert as much as a call to see if she could get more lolitas to come, since it might get us an AP store in the states. And it's not cosplay, cosplay oneesan is just the name of the event coordinator. I don't think she meant to offend people who can't afford to go, but, I also don't think she thought much about the huge costs for lolitas on the other side of the country to get there either. Which was kind of unintentionally offensive.

I agree. I was still "wtf" because it was really clear that she didn't think at all that telling people that they weren't pitching in for the greater cause might be rude when so many people can barely afford gasoline, heating costs, etc. I want to do my part in getting stores in the U.S. and abroad as well getting foreign lolitas recognition in Japan as much as anyone else, but I have more important priorities right now.

It's the 'do your part! not going is not doing your part!' factor that pissed me off. What, we're no rori unless we drop everything to bankrupt ourselves for a night/weekend? Pass.

I find it offensive that so many US people have such a negative and stereotypical view of the midwest.

or have no idea WHAT Midwest refers to.

sometimes I'm ashamed to be American. Truely is our school system now THAT BAD?

Yeah, I was like 'wtf? Midwest =/= close to California!'.

There is this thing called a map. I wish some people would use it.

ehh...i totally get what she's saying and i agree with her, but man, way to blow things out of proportion and not think things through properly.

"When you think about it, that amount of money isn't much in comparison to what you'll be doing for the lolita community. And just think of it.. you'll be a part of lolita history in helping the advancement of the lolita fashion outside of Japan.

The boutique is free of charge, so that's really nice that you don't have to pay to be able to buy things.

[...]

I don't know anything about this besides that it's a new print everybody will be dying for @__@

Also, I heard that Tim Burton may be the secret guest! Wouldn't that be so cool if he was so inspired by all of the lolitas at the event that he made a lolita movie? I wonder if that's his purpose! Wouldn't that be so cool? *__*

[...]

"It's like voting. If you didn't vote, then don't b*tch if it fails."

[...]

So please... come and fight for the lolita revolution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

...i mean, seriously?

The whole "That money isn't much in comparison" is what got to me. Bitch, I don't have a grand or two to drop on travel, hotel, food, and stuff for a weekend. That money IS MORE IMPORTANT than some lolita event, because it means that I get to eat for the next month and pay rent so I have somewhere to live. She really kind of went off the deep end with a couple statements.

Cosplay Oneesan is not about cosplay, nor was it ever. I wish I had went to PMX last year.
