The only fiction I can think of is "One Love" by Blissink.
The difference is that not Ben, it's Brian who is in the hospital. Michael did call; Justin came from NY and found Tyler, Brian's new boyfriend there...

Nope... that's not it. I checked that one first, even being fairly certain that wasn't it. What's strange, is I ran across the word doc maybe 10 days ago. After I told someone about it, they wanted to read it, and now I can't find it!!
