I may be mixing things up, but I’m looking for a lengthy multicchapter AU. Justin is homeless/kicked out by Craig or something like that. He lives/hangs out in the alley behind the diner. I gave it a quick read. The story includes the part about the coat, the business card, and pneumonia. However, Brian takes Justin to Arizona to recover. From there it morphs into a saga with many original characters and fatherhood to two twin boys. I seem to remember another story where Justin is homeless, and Brian helps him to recover in the loft, but it does not include the initial plot elements. Let me think about it.

Thanks I’m pretty sure they are two separate fics - I seem to remember Debbie insisting Brian be the person to take care of Justin.

Tagsit, has a homeless Justin one on KD, called Smoldering. Some of these things fit her story as well. Justin is living on the streets, after being kicked out by Craig. He's pretty ill, and Brian takes him home to stay with him. Awesome story.

There is another homeless Justin story, by Eileen Donovan. "A Soft Place to Fall." Justin lives on the street and is working in a Christmas tree lot where Brian comes to buy a tree for Gus. Justin is sick and Brian ends up taking him to the loft.
