AU without Gus

Apr 03, 2017 16:04

Unpopular opinion: Superdaddy!Brian bores me.
So I'm looking for stories in which Brian is around the age he is in canon and Gus doesn't exist or he's not Brian's son.
They have to be B/J centric, of course.
No character bashing or Brian/Other please.

Edit: 2 suggestions in the comments. Thanks! If you know of any others please keep adding!

b/j is a writer, author: besame_bj, justin sings, au, justin runs away, b/j rockstars or musicians, novel length, b/j live in another house/city/country, b/j reclusive, author: nightvision55, b/j different professions, archive of our own/ao3

There's a very good story in which Gus doesn't exist by Eileen Donovan, "Stranded". Brian and Justin are about the same age as canon, but their background is quite different. Basically, Brian is a writer living as a recluse in Oregon and will meet Justin who ran away from home. You can find it on AO3 but its access' restricted, you have to be registered in AO3 to be able to read it:

I don't know if you like long stories, but I wrote a very long one without a Gus character (although Linds and Mel still have a son) called The Dog Star - Justin is an up-and-coming singer/song writer and Brian is supposed to be looking after him. It's kind of dark and angsty, but no surprise there ... oh, and it's all from Brian's point of view. If you're interested it's here:

How come I didn't think of this one! I love it; what's more, I first listened to "Queen Bitch" after reading it. You always find great songs to put in your fics. I also discovered "Miss Otis regrets" thanks to your great ghost story.

I don't have any problems with long stories. Actually I'm in a 'the longer the better' phase right now so thanks for the rec!
