I think that psycho Ben Carson's West Point fabrications must've put this fic in my mind! :-D I've checked all the "Gus is a teenager" tags and scanned the subject headings in the "Gus" tag, but didn't find this fic. Unfortunately, I don't remember any other details. Thanks in advance!

I think the story you are looking for is by Qaffangyrl. I couldn't find it on line so I uploaded to sendspace. It is a three part gus series. The part about Gus going to West Point is in the 3rd part of the story. The link below is a direct link to the story and has all three parts combined into one fic. This is a great series.

Thanks for remembering this fic! I had a sense it was by an author I really like, but just couldn't recall any details. I'll enjoy the reread. Now I'm wishing qaffangyrl was still writing. She did mention finishing her S7 some time ago, so maybe one day...

You can open the third fic directly from quaffangyrl's LJ here. That open the final chapter, but there's a link to chapter 1 and each subsequent chapter links along at the end.
