I'm not aware of one. The only death-faking story I know is that one where Brian fakes his death right before the wedding and they both end up professors at the same school years later. Of course, that was a witness protection scenario. I can't quite fathom Justin faking his death just from Brian turning him away. His level of depression would have to be so high that it would then be hard to imagine him pulling off something so complicated and requiring so much effort.
Still, an intriguing plot bunny. If an author manages to write it and not make me hate Justin for doing that to Brian, I'll be highly impressed! lol
ETA: I could imagine Craig and/or Jennifer faking Justin's death to keep him from Brian. THAT may already exist.
That's the only one I could think of too. I think there has been one or two where Craig and/or Jennifer told everyone Justin had died when they had actually moved him to a rehab hospital. I thought it would be kind of interesting though.
ETA: I had a hard time forgiving Brian for doing that to Justin. I figured he could have worked out an arrangement that looked like they were both killed by Stockwell's friends or something.
I like the whole premise of what you suggested. I would love to read such a story and have been thinking about a similar plot recently. I pray someone comes up with a story to follow your prompt.
Yeah, there are quite a few where all, or at least Brian, assume Justin is dead. I loved both Bird on a Wire and Remember Me. I don't think I've read Needle Cushion before so I'll have to give it a try soon. Thanks for the link. ;)
There's a new story on bj fic with this type of scenario. It's called, "Second Chances." Justin was so depressed by Brian doing that, he left town. He gets a girl pregnant and now 17 years later he's back in Pittsburgh as his wife died. He has never started art again, and he's teaching at Carnegie Mellon in Economics. I really like it so far.
I think I saw this fic over on the Midnight Whispers website. Does Justin fake his death? From your description it doesn't sound like what I'm looking for, but thanks for the rec. ;)

Here's the first chapter, then you might have to go through bj fic.
