It's so strange because I remember a comment from the original piece almost better than I remember the piece itself...I felt the same way. The comment was like, "I can see it(meaning Brian's childhood) happening this way.

The story wasn't told from Brian or Justin's perspective, but was definitely 3rd person. I wish I could remember another scene from it, but I think it ends with Brian meeting Michael for the first time? (not sure...)

I remember reading the one you are asking about but I can't remember the title or author. But since you are interested in similar fics Simon wrote quite a few of those mostly with Brian as a teen. I looked through her fics on Moonshadowtribe for links to some. I think you can also find them on Across the Pond as well
