QAF history question.

Jan 09, 2011 21:40

I am not sure where to go to find this out, but figured that one of you would know. We know from some of the interviews that Randy read with Gale when he auditioned for Brian, but does anyone know if he read with Hal for the role? I have never read or seen that he did.

Thanks in advance. I know it's an odd question.

If Randy did? I don't think so. At least, not that I ever heard.

Randy mentions in an interview that he read with two Brian potentials, one of them being Gale, and how he was hoping that Gale would get the part. The other guy he read with was the trick that Brian threw out of the loft in when Justin is running away from his mother, early season 1.

I am asking if Hal ever mentioned having to read with Gale during Gales audition.

Ah. I don't think so.

Gale showed up at the end of the week. They were almost begging him to take the role, they thought he was perfect. IIRC, he read with Sharon. If you watch the special features at the end of S1, I think they talked about it.

Is that the trick from 105? Brian kicks him out of the loft when Justin shows up because Jennifer was at Woody's...is that the right episode? If it is, then yeah, SOOOOOOOO glad they picked Gale to play Brian. The other guy wasn't even good looking IMHO.

Thanks for posting this little tidbit...I'd always wondered who the other 'potential Brian' was.

This probably doesn't help, but I was flipping through "queer as folk: the book" and it makes it sound like Hal was already casted before they found their Justin and Brian. It also mentions that Randy's audition for Justin was from a tape made from the New York casting director. So if I would have to take a guess, it sounds like Randy and Hal never read together for either of their auditions. But I could be totally wrong! *shrugs*

Pretty sure you are right.

i think Hal was the first cast. Once he convinced Cowlip that he was serious and not just doing a comedy bit, they were thrilled to have a 'name' and they loved his audition.

I've only heard of the lesbians reading together and Randy with the 2 potential Brians. In that scene where Gale is in the door doing the audition/screen test, pretty sure the Linsz part was read by a producer.

Actually, in the clip it's Michael's part that's
read offscreen. It's the Patrick Swayze scene when
they are talking about "Dirty Dancing" and Brian
says "We owe it all to him."

same difference... the other part is being read by a producer and not one of the actors.

But thanks for the correction.
