And yeah, lucid dreaming doesn't work like that. I guess I'm attributing the effects of the machine they had somehow focusing things while it allowed multiple people to share dreams. I like that they didn't try to explain the pseudoscience of it; there's no way it would've made any sense, so it was nice that they set it up as "In this world, this technology exists, and people can control dreams in this way. Deal with it."
I had trained myself to lucid dream a bit, but it led to me remembering all my dreams, and having detailed and disturbing dreams fairly often. Not good.

Hm. I rarely have disturbing dreams, lucid or not. Even dreams that I think would seem frightening or disturbing to other people.
"So then I was fighting the zombie horde and this giant troll showed up blocking our exit so we had to go deeper inside where this freaky rotting corpse queen was waiting for us..."
"OMG THAT'S SO SCARY! D:"
"NO IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!!"
Also I've died in dreams before and not woken up.
That was certainly interesting.
And by interesting I mean "something I will remember for the rest of my life and the reason I'm not afraid to die anymore."

The other time I "died" in a dream, I stepped out of my sleeping body and then realized I no longer had lungs to breathe, so my ghost-me faded away while the real me remembered how to breathe and woke up. Also bizarre.
