Horrible Dr. Horrible...

I have long since come to accept the fact that I hate 99% of everything everyone on my flist likes in terms of entertainment, and collectively people on my flist like about 1% of what I do. In terms of entertainment -- common interests, we does not has them. Therefor, if anyone tuning in right now is a Joss Whedon fan and might feel offended by ( Read more... )

opus!spock is ooc, holy teal deer batman!, fascinating, more issues than the new york post, put on the rant pants, blah blah blah, pointless observations, regrettably not drunk, broadway baby, nerrrrrrrrrd, general snarking, hollywood sucks, a rare moment of fandom, fannonism, well kiss my ass and call me lucy, bitch bitch bitch, why am i tagging this?, sometimes i remember to tag things

It is no secret that I love me some Joss Whedon shows, but I agree. Dr. Horrible was merely okay, IMO. By the time I saw it, anything vaguely funny had been quoted to death.

I DO like the music, but I like musicals, and I like Sondheim (though tbh, I think he's overrated as fuck, too.)

I liked Buffy for the season and a half I followed it religiously during high school. I thought -- and still think -- that it was clever, original (or at least, old stories told in original and compelling ways, which is what counts), and had a perfect blend of drama and humor ( ... )

I was late to the DHSAB train. When I did finally see it months after everyone else did, I thought it was generally entertaining and I definitely got some good laughs out of it, but I don't think it's the best thing ever.

I did, however, find the skit last night on the Emmys hysterical. I have a feeling that's how DH should have been handled - short skits without actual srs plot. But then, I've thought Joss takes himself too seriously for some time now.

I haven't seen that skit yet (la la la killing time at work la)... I really liked Joss's SRS BSNS plots in Buffy. But I agree that the Dr. Horrible thing was handled wrong. The concept had a lot of promise, I was kind of disappointed it turned out to be nothing but an emasculated, unfinished story sketch.

I have never seen Dr. Horrible and his singing, because a)I'm not into Joss Whedon's work at all and b)my allegiance lays with another singing mad scientist...Dr. Steel.

The only part I genuinely liked about DHSAB was Captain Hammer.

Because it was Nathan Fillion.

Mmmm.

XD Soooo not my taste. Dr. Horrible was kind of acceptably cute, but otherwise... the show was seriously lacking in the eye-candy department for me. :P

Tim Burton's Bitch killed me dead because oh god it is so TRUE.

And Dr. Horrible was...eh...fun but not the greatest thing ever that people claim it is. I don't feel the need to watch it again or own it or anything.

And Goddamn, so it IS Little Shop. And um...I like most of the shows you listed. XD

That is a good description of it. We own it only because it was $5 and we were REALLY bored. XD
