((OOC: Why *can't* Khy have kids?))

The character, being what and who she is, would naturally want to have kids. Or at least a kid. As far as she knows, the world is currently at peace, or as peacable and stable as it's ever going to get, and she has no expectations of this changing for a long time. She and Rosh are both at least semi-retired from the whole war/adventuring thing, and ( Read more... )

This is pretty much exactly where I stand on the subject. It's really not something I'd enjoy playing out at all (and this is supposed to be fun, right?) but there's also the question of how -not- to play it without going OOC if the character would want to.

With that situation, yeah, it seems a bit hard to entirely avoid it IC without actively throwing roadblocks in the path. I don't know much about the breeding habits and such of Tauren but I know that at least with humans, it doesn't always happen right away. I've known people who tried for three or four years before finally having one, if it's plausible for her then maybe it's Just Not Happening in the months leading up to the Cataclysm.

Hmmmm... yeah, actually, this makes sense. Basically, Khy goes "off the tea" or whatever, but isn't expecting immediate results, but you know, it'd be nice if it happens, and then CATACLYSM HAPPENS INSTEAD. I like this idea, I think. Thank you for the reminder! ;)

Hm, yeah, good question. I'm totally in agreement - kids are a gigantic complication I'm not really interested in RPing - but as far as why Khy and Rosh wouldn't want them...

Maybe they just want some time to themselves now that stuff has settled down? After all, they -did- just come out of a fairly stressful time, and child-rearing isn't exactly a Caribbean cruise.

I think I'll go with what Cei suggested above - Khy's like "Okay we can have kids now!" and goes "off the tea" or whatever, but nothing actually happens before the next world-ending catastrophy, at which point it's back on the tea - especially with how f'in grim the world gets after the Cataclysm, sheesh. XD Not to make a pun on Grimtotems or anything. Except I totally did.

Is Khy being pressured to get pregnant? I don't understand this fascination of people's. Being married in real lifewise, I rarely get asked, "When are you having kids?" And when I do, I just say, "I can't." Which pretty much ends the conversation uncomfortably right there.

Maybe the heavily tattooed bespectacled video gaming type isn't expected to want them.

Perfectly healthy and normal couples do choose for no reason other than " not interested" to skip the kid thing. Others who are healthy in every other manner find they can't have kids. Just skip the issue and blame it on one of the two. It doesn't have to be RPed out.
