"Okay, Mac. You've got to help me." Logan dragged Mac into his hotel room, nervously tugging his sleeves down over his hands.
"What's up? You told me to bring my computer, what do you need me to hack?" Mac was used to being Veronica's tech girl sidekick, but this was the first time Logan had ever asked a tech favor. She really hoped it wasn't illegal. He was certainly acting weird.
"It's about a girl..." He pulled at his sleeves nervously and seemed to blush. Mac stared openly. "Okay, this is gonna make me sound like a real nerd." Mac raised an eyebrow as if to say, 'And I should judge?'
Logan took a deep breath, paced the length of the room as Mac tapped her fingers in the Universal Code for 'Get on with it. I may laugh at you, but I will still do the favor if you just tell me what the hell it is.'
"Okay." He said. "I met a girl online." He winced at Mac's knowing grin. "She's really nice. I've read her blog, and we've IMed. We've got... well, we've got a certain connection. I want to find out if she really is who she says she is. And I want to find out where she lives."
"You can't just ask where she lives?" asked Mac.
"All I know is she's in Missouri. Her birthday is coming up..." He let out a breath.
"And you want to show up for her in your birthday suit??" teased Mac. He blushed again. Mac tried to hold in her grin. The Great Logan Echolls was crushing like a schoolgirl. She just hoped his new love wouldn't turn out to be some 40 year old with a comb over and kinky hobbies.
"Okay, what do you know?" Mac sat down at her computer and opened a web window.
"Well, her live journal name is
jen_knee_suu..." He sat down next to Mac and anxiously watched the screen over her shoulder.
Mac turned to him grumpily. "Go. Make yourself busy somewhere. I'll call you if I need you."
"Yeah, yeah. I'll, um, I'll be in the kitchen." Mac shook her head, chuckling. As if Logan could find something to keep himself busy in the kitchen. But his Jenn had left enough info for Mac to track her. She seemed to be who she said she was... except she had lied about her birthday. Mac smirked to herself. She'd keep that little bit to herself. Jenn could just owe her one.
"Alright, Logan," she called out. She could hear all sorts of clattering coming from the suite kitchen. She hoped he didn't damage himself before he could finish his little cyber affair. "Get out the AmEx card, we're booking you a flight..."
HEE! Happy Pretend Birthday,
jen_knee_suu... Mac and I promise to keep your little secret!
