he talks about the psychological motives which show that we have no realy love for the things and beings...example: if you like to make photos but use the whole thing primarily to become famous or to get acknowledgement you are using the thing ,you have a psychological motive..you do not really love to make fotos, primarily you have other motives,he don't talk about the motive to earn your livelihood with something, he talks about motives like pride,fame,reputation, revenge
and other psychological motives we have to do things, and these psychological motives deny the joy of doing something, we do it not for fun but to satisfy some psychological demand
or for example sex: a lot of sex has hidden motives of revenge and to hurt....we are not doing it primarily cause we love sex..that makes sex to a neurotic affair
