and it's me again...

since a few people on my flist are hit by this stupid thing called spnanonhaven , I feel the need to address this quickly.

I went over there to check out what they say about my fic, and I think I got lucky, because it wasn't much. There was one review that actually seemed to be okay in the way that the person posting this was talking about ( Read more... )

I could not agree more. I mean honestly...it's like a free for all. No one has anything good to say. Its cruel and deliberate criticism of the worst sort. Much of it is baseless and meant only to hurt others. Its full of unhappy, negative people. I've only been there once and will never go back. I know of at least one person from BB last year that was driven completely out of this fandom and has not returned. How is that right? She loved to write and she had a story to tell. Its a cowardly way to be mean. Most if not all would have nothing to say if they actually had to log in to do it. And its not just the author's that get attacked...its the artists as well.

Whatever. I choose not to surround myself with that kind of negativity and have been very lucky to have stumbled across some of the nicest people I've ever met and have made lasting friendships with some of them.

I agree. Just don't go there. Whatever is said there...means nothing.

wow, that people are actually driven out of fandom by this is crazy.... and you're right, apart from that, they are SO MANY great people here, I hate that so few negative things can outweigh that...

THANK YOU! I couldn't have said it better.

And even if we would be paid, the reader still didn't have the right to expect something from the author except for what is on the book cover. Because even in original fiction it's all about taste.

Hell, the critics tore Stephanie Meyers apart for her Twilight series and look how many people loved it. I'm not one of them but still, the fact is that there are people who love it.
