First post and day trip review

Welcome one and all! I created this community because I could not find any community on LJ that would do what I want this one to do. So, I am going to post about a couple of trips we have made so far. When you make a post, please tag it with the city and type of business that it is. If their is an existing tag, use it. Anyway, here goes.

My wife and I live in Alpharetta and took our first two-up ride on the (new to us) Suzuki 1500 LC on Saturday, 5-25-08. We took Hwy 9 (Alpharetta Hwy) from Roswell and followed it to Cumming. Once you get past Windward Parkway, the road smooths out and its not bad for a two-lane blacktop. As always, cages entering the road and the ever-present 'talk on the cell phone while driving badly' groups keep you on your toes, but you should always assume everyone is out to get you anyway. Lovely scenery and enough gentle curves to keep your interest. Cumming is a lovely city, especially the downtown area. Be aware that there are a couple of stop lights at the top of hills just steep enough to make it a mild challenge getting moving again when the light turns green. We stopped and ate at Spondivits seafood restaurant there. Its right on Hwy 9 a block before the town square. The food was great. My wife had blackened grouper (one of the fish of the day) and I had the fried clams. Portions were very generous and everything was perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is nice, good air conditioning, easy access parking. The only dent was our waitress. She was very nice, but a bit slow. She would get sidetracked in the bar area jacking her jaw with people. Other than that, a great stop. After lunch, we stopped at Triumph of North Georgia right down the street to look at the pretty shinies! Nice shop, but once the sales people heard that we were just looking, they were not interested in telling us about the bikes. I chalk it up to typical sales people. They had a cute little yip-yap shop dog, though. We left there and were going to continue on Hwy 9 toward Dahlonega, but about 10 miles down the road, it started to rain on us, and since we didnt have rain gear with us, we turned around and headed back home. All told, it was about 80 miles; a nice, easy ride and cool way to spend a half a day with your bike and partner.
