Seattle

"I don't know," George laughed while he and Alex lay on the couch, watching the credits roll for Lord of the Rings: Two Towers.

"Come on," Alex urged. "You gotta choose. I told you."

"You said I was most like Sam. He's a hobbit. Everyone at the hospital has called me 'hobbit' at least once."

"Yeah, but my opinion is the only one that matters," Alex said as if it were obvious.

George rolled his eyes. "Uh-huh. Sure."

Alex dropped his chin onto George's shoulder, staring up at him like he used to do to his mother when he wanted something. "Please."

George groaned, never able to resist Alex's puppy dog look. Alex saved that face only for him when they were alone, and George had to admit that when he saw it, he was basically jelly. It's like giving a kid a puppy. He let the corner of his lips touch Alex forehead as he let out a sigh. "Fine."

"Yes!" Alex smiled triumphantly. "So?"

"Gimme a second," George bit the inside of his cheek, thinking, "I'd have to say...Legolas."

"Seriously?"

"No complaining. You asked, I told."

"I know, I know," Alex said. "I was just wondering why."

George shrugged with one shoulder, the other immobile since Alex had decided it made a better pillow than limb. "You're gonna laugh."

"No, I won't," Alex paused, "okay, so I probably will. Tell me anyway."

"Must I?"

"Yes."

George exhaled slowly, aiming for Alex's bare neck and smiling when he shivered. "I don't know. I guess...it's always just seemed like there was something unearthly about you."

Alex raised his eyes to George's kissing him softly. "You have no idea." He enveloped George in another kiss, pushing him back onto the couch.

The air around them rippled and for just a second, Alex's ears became pointed before they rounded once again.

The End
