Really just a rather fluffy little drabble. AU and OOC I suppose.
Orange
It’s just a small box, which has the colour of faded silver. It’s not even properly wrapped up, there is merely a bow around it with a fake orange on the top. Really it is not the most impressing sight there ever was and still it has the girls all excited. Meredith was the first to see it, stopping dead in her tracks and thus causing Christina to run into her. Christina already opened her mouth to snap at her, but only comes up with an "Oh!" when seeing what caused Meredith to stop. Both turn to stare at Izzy but she looks just as nonplussed as they are. And now they are taking longer than usual to get dressed and they keep throwing glances at the box. The reason for that is simple enough, it’s the fact that the present is lying in front of Alex’s locker.
Alex has yet to show up and if he doesn’t do so soon they will probably die from curiosity. Its not their fault really, after all how weird is it for someone like Alex to get a present from a girl. A secret admirer at that. Yes, they have all noticed the absence of a card. And at the hospital of all places. A slap in the face that is something they can see happening, but a present? So who can blame them for feeling a tiny bit curious as to the nature of the present. Just a tiny bit, really. And no they have not discussed opening it themselves, at all… much.
They are not waiting for Alex to turn up either. They are getting dressed and than they will go home. Yes, that is what they are doing. And therefore the expression of their faces can’t possibly be called disappointed, when George enters the locker room instead of Alex, whom they are not waiting for, really.
George doesn’t seem to notice the present in fact he seems to be preoccupied with very pointedly not looking in the direction of Alex’s locker. Usually the girls would have noticed this, but they have more pressing matters at mind. Alex has just opened the door. The tension in the room is almost palpable.
"What?", Alex asked, noticing that everybody is looking at him, well everybody but George who looks everywhere but at him. Then he notices the present. He can’t help but smile as he moves over to his locker. Picking up the parcel, he notices the fake orange. His smile widens. Without looking up he reaches for George, grabs him and pulls him in for a kiss.
Izzy gasps, Meredith just stares and Christina looks as if her eyes are going to pop out at any moment.
The kiss is slow and sweet and basically very unlike Alex. Or at least very unlike anything any of them would have ever associated with Alex. And George looks all flustered, he is red in the face and mumbles something against Alex lips, but he doesn’t pull back. When Alex lets go of him his head sinks to Alex’s chest and he presses his face into Alex’s body, trying to hide his embarrassment. Alex rests his chin on George’s head, still grinning smugly. "Pervert!", he says bemusement evident in his voice, but there is also a trace of something else, something that in anyone but Alex could have been affection. And there is so much intimacy in that little utterance that the girls feel like they are intruding in something private.
Suddenly they are in a hurry to get out of the room. They have been fully dressed for a while now anyways. While leaving the room as discreetly as possible they still hear George’s mumbled protest: "I’m not perverted, you bought the orange-flavoured lube. And well happy Valentine's."
