matildaswan! The "original" female character in this was based off a character from another series. It should be fairly obvious who she is.
Summary: Kenzi has a secret crush.
Kenzi tried to sidestep Bo as she entered the apartment but, after a year of living with the succubus, she knew it was a futile attempt. Bo twisted with Kenzi's movement, pinched the book emerging from Kenzi's bag with two fingers, and slipped it free. Kenzi tried to grab it back, but Bo danced out of the way. It was literally almost a dance, and it irritated her that Bo could mock her so gracefully.
"Hey!" As witty retorts went, that was low on the scale. "Privacy mean anything to you?"
Bo smiled and held up the book. "Another trip to the library? Kenz, you're getting all literate."
Kenzi snatched the book away from Bo, fixing her with a death glare that would have rendered a mere human to ash. Bo, stupid Fae, just giggled behind her hand as Kenzi hugged the book to her chest. "I look books, okay? Is that a crime? It can't all be... swords and blood and severed limbs around here, you know. Gotta expand my horizons."
"Yeah, but you didn't even read the last books you got. Or the ones before that. They just sit on that counter for a week before you took them back to get new ones. We have money if you want to just buy a paperweight." Kenzi stuck her tongue out, and Bo shrugged as she backed toward the door. "I have to head out. Lauren has some tests she wanted to run. See you in a bit."
Kenzi rolled her eyes and headed for her room. "Talk about an addiction..."
"I heard that!"
"Meh-meh-meh," Kenzi mocked. She closed her bedroom door and tossed the book onto the dresser. She was only peeved because Bo was right; she had no intention of reading it. The cover looked cool, though, so at least she would have something to look at until she took it back. She flopped onto the bed, flipped onto her back, and let her arms drop to either side as she stared at the ceiling.
She didn't know why she felt embarrassed about her true reason for her recent patronization of the library. Patroniz... was that the word? Whatever. It had nothing to do with books. She had wandered into the public library to follow a hunch. She wanted to check in the encyclopedia before she went to Dyson and Hale and looked like an idiot. She had gone straight to the reference section, feeling claustrophobic in the tall stacks. It was something out of Indiana Jones, and she wondered how anyone managed to find anything in such a labyrinth.
That's when she appeared. Literally, appeared. One second Kenzi could have sworn she was alone in the stacks and the next, a gentle and softly-accented woman asked, "Perhaps I could be of assistance?"
Kenzi closed her eyes and tried to remember that first glance. A wild mass of blonde curls, a coy smile, and a leather waistcoat over a white blouse. Oh, this was no ordinary librarian. Kenzi had been stunned into silence so long that the woman prompted her with a slight nod, and Kenzi pointed stupidly at the stacks.
"Ah... books."
"You're in luck. We have lots of those. Anything in particular?"
Yes, but being specific was going to get her laughed out of the building. "Uh. Uni.... unicorns. But not like, little girl frou-frou unicorns. Like." She winced. "Real ones."
The librarian looked at her for a moment, then turned sideways and motioned for Kenzi to follow her. "I think I may have something... follow me. I'm Melody."
"Uh. Kenzi."
Kenzi remembered eyeing Melody's ass when they moved through the corridors made by wood and books. At first she just put it up to sleeping one room over from a succubus, bleed-through of the yum-yum variety, but the feelings lingered. Melody was a damn sexy-ass librarian, and she damn well knew it. The way she looked over her shoulder to make sure Kenzi was following, and that sly grin that said she knew just exactly what Kenzi had been looking at...
Phew.
She reached a shelf and rested her hand on the spine of a book like she was trying to get someone's attention at a party. Just a light brush of her fingers and then lifting her hand away. "There you go. Anything else?"
"Uh, nope. That's all I need..."
"Well, if you need anything else, you know where to find me." She winked, brushed past Kenzie, and was gone as quickly as she'd arrived.
After that Kenzi had started concocting reasons, each flimsier than the last, to revisit the library. And Melody, as if she sensed Kenzi's arrival, was always at the counter when she showed up. She smiled and drummed her fingers on the table, and said, "Well, what can I help you find today?"
Fiction, biography, history, memoirs, old newspapers... Kenzi's excuse was that she worked for a private investigator (sort of true) and there was no way of telling what could be useful. The fiction was just for pleasure reading, she claimed. That was a thing. People did that. She'd seen them on the bus. People with books. And Stephen King was a stink-billionaire for a reason. Someone had to be buying those books.
Melody seemed to see right through her, but she never said anything. Kenzi wasn't going to surrender, so they had a weird sort of détente where Melody kept recommending books she knew Kenzi wouldn't read, and Kenzi kept checking them out and putting them on the shelf until a reasonable amount of time had passed so she could return it and go back.
Kenzi kept imagining the next trip would be the last. She would watch Bo with Lauren or Dyson and she'd convince herself to channel her inner skank. Wait until they were deep in the stacks, away from prying eyes and ears, and she would put her hands in that magnificent mane and pull Melody to her. Kenzi lifted her head and looked at the open door of her bedroom.
"Bo-bo? You here?" She waited, moving her knees apart as she pushed herself up on her elbows. She wet her lips and hoisted up her skirt, then hooked her thumbs in her leggings and pushed them down. Just real quick. Just a tension reliever. Like taking the lid off a boiling pot before it hit the ceiling.
She licked the first two fingers of both hands, held them like guns in front of her face, and said, "Get to work, girls."
Kenzi pressed the fingers of her left hand to her clit, stretching her right-hand fingers down to press them against her sex. She closed her eyes and imagined herself in the stacks at the library, turning to see Melody behind her. "Hello, Kenzi. Did you enjoy the book?"
"Uh... yeah. At the end they found out--"
Melody put a finger to Kenzi's lips and said, "Ah-ah-ah." She leaned forward and, in a voice that could melt butter, whispered, "Spoilers." She pressed a little harder with her finger and it slipped into Kenzi's mouth. She circled it with her tongue, eyes closed, and sucked on it as Melody pressed against her.
Kenzi moved her left hand in slow circles, lifting her hips as she pushed her middle finger between her folds. She sucked in a breath and added her index finger as she split her clitoris with two fingers.
"You don't read any of these books, do you?"
"Some of them... I... get busy. Sometimes if there are... pictures." Her mouth was dry. Why can't I even be suave in my own damn fantasy? "I... try to read them all. Is there a fine for not reading?"
"No. But it does make one curious what the appeal is. If you're not coming here for the books, one must wonder... why?" Melody would lean in, and Kenzi would channel her inner-Bo and let it happen. Kissing a chick. She'd kissed Bo before, and it was not sucky, so she could handle a liplock with someone she genuinely found attractive. A tongue against her lips, and her lips parted to accept it, and then Melody pushed her against the stacks with a possessive growl.
"Sorry..."
"Don't be. Take me."
Melody smiled and savagely kissed her again. Kenzi grabbed the wooden bookshelves on either side and pressed herself
up against her own hand. She whimpered desperately, thrusting with one hand as she circled with the other. The fantasy got away from her. Clothes were torn off, lips closed around nipples, and Kenzi was taken multiple, physically impossible ways. Her lower body levitated, grinding against Melody's mouth, and she used both hands to finger Melody until she gushed wetly all over her--
"Ah! Fuck me! Fuck, me!" She squeezed her legs around her hands, panting as she came down off her orgasm. Sweat beaded her forehead and upper lip, and she flopped on her mattress like a rag doll. She sniffed and wiped her hands on her shirt, then put her clothes back together. She dried her face on a handy towel and walked out of her bedroom as casually as she could.
Bo was standing at the kitchen island, both hands resting on the edge as she stared off into space. Kenzi froze. "Oh."
Bo jumped. "Uh. Hey, Kenz. I forgot something." She cleared her throat. "So. The library, huh?"
"Not so much the library as the... contents."
"Books?"
"Librarian."
"Ahh. Gotcha."
"Sorry if you got a little, um. Backdraft."
"Don't worry about it."
"No, you talked to me about the succubus overdrive, how if you're feeling it you have to--"
Bo reached under her skirt, gasped, and dropped a zucchini on the island in front of her. Kenzi's eyes widened. Bo exhaled, her posture suddenly more relaxed and a satisfied flush rising on her cheeks. She winked. "Like I said. Don't worry about it." She picked up the zucchini. "I'll just... get rid of this."
"Yeah..."
"Apartment's yours for the rest of the night. And Kenzi." She paused at the door, looking down at her impromptu sex toy. "Don't just make it a fantasy. Make it a battle plan. Use it to hone your attack and then make it real."
Kenzi almost said she didn't want anything real, but she thought better of it. Who knew what she really wanted? "Thanks, Bo-bo."
"No problem. I'm going to meet Lauren... don't wait up."
"Gonna make her a salad?"
Bo laughed as she left the apartment. Kenzi drummed her fingers on the island, worrying her lip with her teeth, and then she turned and hurried back to the bedroom. A few seconds later she came back, searched the fridge, and took out a zucchini. What was good for the succubus, after all... She ran to the bedroom with her toy in hand.
There was a chance she had late fees to answer for.
