So... I guess people like my writing?

This weekend, at the GCLS Conference, I have two novels nominated for awards. In addition, I just found out that I'm nominated six times over at the 2010 Femslash Awards! Go over and take a look and see if you deem any of them worthy of your votes. I know I'd be thrilled to see "Cinder and Smoke" and " ( Read more... )

Thank you! I'm so happy to see Cinder & Smoke and Sabbatical both nominated. I'm so proud of both of those! The rest are just bonus. ;-D

Well. No. Not REALLY. ;-D I mean, my publishers pay money to put books on the market. But it took a long time (and actually it took a few awards) before I realized that readers really do like my stories. ~g~

I do understand. Hopefully, I'll one day have an award or two help me believe as well. ;)

Pshaw! You don't need an award. You've got my praise!

You guess people like your writing? Nah, not a bit. LOL. Are you kidding? We love your writing and you know it. Especially Sam/Janet. I just re-read those Sam/Janet stories. Yep, you definitely are the best. *bows to you*

I knew it! It's all a sham! ~cries~

It took SO long for me to get past that "Of course YOU like it, you're my FRIENDS. Real people would hate it!" phase. I'm still there a little bit, but... just a little bit. ;-D

\o/ Yay! *throws confetti* Congrats on your nominations! So I guess being an author of more than one published novel isn't just a "fluke." ;-)

Right! One might have been a fluke. Two... eh. Three? FOUR? That's undeniable evidence that a bribe has taken place. ;-D

I don't know how to explain two of them being up for awards, though... hm. Oh! I'm a straight male writing lesbian novels. Some kind of affirmative action must be taking place! That's it! :D

One = Fluke
Two = Sold the first born
Three = Made a deal with the devil
Four = You're a bona fide writer.
Four + Nominations = You're a bona fide writer and people like your writing.

Now, when you've WON those awards we can start with the sour grapes about affirmative action and how you didn't really *earn* those awards you earned were given.

Or, I suppose it's more parsimonious to explain it as, "you write well and make your readers happy." But that just isn't very wanky, now is it?

Well, I've got eight contracted. Just waiting for them to be released. So what does THAT mean? Hmmm...

As for the awards, I'm not getting my hopes up. Although the person who notified me DID let it "slip" that Radclyffe and Karin Kallmaker were on the list of nominations but didn't get on the shortlist. So I've at least made it farther than they did. Which is... mind-boggling. :D
