Author's Notes: This is the first in a series, but I don't know how long it will end up being. This covers Season 1 of Stargate SG-1, from an AU viewpoint. It's a world where Sam was passed over a second time, bumped from the second mission through the Stargate. Her replacement on SG-1: Captain Janet Fraiser. I don't know if I'll do the entire series, but it's a fair bet that I will at least cover Seasons 1 and 2. So there will be a sequel to this, I just don't know if there will be a whole string of sequels. The title and series title are both from Josh Ritter's song "Potter's Wheel."
Summary: Janet Fraiser is given the chance of a lifetime; to join a top-secret military team on missions to other worlds. She accepts, but doesn't realize the consequences.
