holy wow - 8.8 in Chile

There was an 8.8 off the coast of Chile a few hours ago, followed by a 6.9 aftershock. Undoubtedly there will be more aftershocks to come.

Details for the 8.8 hereI was in Santiago a few winters ago - very hard to look at the images of all the damage. I sincerely hope the death toll

I really hope that people heed the Tsunami warning center's bulletins and follow the directions when told to leave the coastal inundation areas.
I know it is fascinating, but please don't put yourself at risk.
