Alternatively, Kagome has completely collapsed into a fit of self-obsession following the stress of the events and is too enraptured by the fact that she - unlike the others - has a home that she can escape to.

If this manga hadn't gone so horribly downhill, this made have made her somewhat interesting, but she really is just an idiot anymore.

Somewhere out there, Naraku is giggling like a fifth grade girl.

I also thought that. Which would make it just as bad. She should have done that like 40 chapters ago instead of now when Kohaku is the only shard that Naraku doesn't have. It would have definitely made her more interesting if it happened before but at this point it just makes her seem shallow and irresponsible.

I'm hoping Sess and Naraku team up, kill everyone in a spectacular blaze of ownage (it's not like they can't do it), complete the jewel, then sit and have tea before taking over the world.

It's a better ending then most of the alternatives I can think of. And probably more plausible at this point with the way Kagome is acting.
