Geoff turned the folded packet of paper over and over in his hands. It held his name on one side, written in a clear but decorative script. On the other side was a wax seal, one he'd seen countless times before

House was at that moment sitting on the balcony of the small apartment they'd rented since it was clear they were going to be in Colorado for a while. He'd just gotten off the phone with his mother and was idly stroking Cash's head as he stared off at the darkening sky.
He looked over his shoulder at Geoff's approach, and a small smile touched his lips. As Geoff came closer and House was able to see his expression, his smile faded and his eyes darkened. Cash shifted on his haunches, and lay his chin on Hosue's leg. "What's wrong?"
"You're never one to give a man the chance for a build-up, are you?" Geoff joked, trying to relieve the tension of the moment. He stopped next to the other man and leaned in for a kiss, then reached down to scratch Cash's ears.
"I just received this," he said after a moment, holding out the packet, still unopened.
Greg took the envelope and turned it over in his hands. It took a moment, but the sickening wave that washed over him confirmed what it was. His blue eyes turned up to Geoff. "You can't refuse." He said softly. Almost inaudibly.
"I can't," Geoff whispered in agreement. "I have...I have a sworn duty."
He met Greg's eyes, even though he wanted to look away. "I haven't opened it yet, but...I don't need to. That seal is all I need to see. They could have sent just it, and still expected me to answer. Greg, I'm sorry."
Tugging at his hair again, Geoff turned and moved to lean against the railing. "You could always come with me."
"Oh, I imagine I will. I have a talent for 'adjusting', I think. Still...don't let me get carried away, all right?"
He was pleased to see the hint of a grin on Greg's face, and motioned the man to lean closer for a kiss. "Wherever you decide to put us up while we're there, make sure it has a good, big tub. So you can soak that leg of yours."
"You let me handle the hotel accomodations." Greg said, in the moments before their mouths met in a deeply passionate kiss. his hands trailed through Geoff's hair and followed through to his shoulders.
Cash knew well the cue for him to scatter, and with a sigh he jumped off the bed and took his leave. If he'd been able to pull the door closed behind him, he likely would have done it.
Geoff's arms went around the other man's shoulders, and he chuckled a little as the dog headed out the door.
"You need to get Cash a girlfriend," he murmured teasingly. "Or a boyfriend. One of these days you're going to find him chewing on your shoes out of spite."
"Do you realise how impossible he'd be then?" House shook his head and shifted, so that he was on his knees straddling Geoff. His weight was instinctively delegated more to the left, but it wasn't as awkward as he' once been.
A low groan escaped Geoff's throat, and this time he couldn't stop himself from moving, his hips pushing against Greg's hand. He murmured softly, mostly unintelligble words falling from his lips, occasionally punctuated with cries of God or Greg.
His fingers wrapped themselves tightly in the other man's hair, as he writhed against the coverlet.
Another cry escaped Geoff at the sensation, and he bucked uncontrollably, coming hard against the back of Greg's throat. The cry turned into a low groan as he collapsed back against the bed, his chest heaving as he struggled to catch his breath.
"Jesus, Greg..." he whispered, the hand twined in the other man's hair releasing its hold and falling away.
Greg pulled off Geoff and looked up at him with a very self satisfied smirk. He scooted back up the bed, careful of his leg, an straddled Geoff with his kness at the man's hips. He bent down, to kiss him.
