Today (and yesterday) was the kind of day that makes you believe spring will actually come - someday. The sun was shining in a mostly clear sky, the temperature warmed to above freezing, and enough snow has melted that you can see patches of bare ground here and there, for the first time in over a month. Sigh of Relief
I went to see the worker's comp doctor today. X-Rays confirm there is no spinal damage, but most likely I slightly tore one of the deep muscles of the back. The ibuprofen and skelaxin have helped somewhat, in that the pain is now localized to the right side of my back at the site of the likely tear, and I am only in spasm upon waking up in the ( Read more... ) -
Not better.
Hurts worse than yesterday. Pain seems more isolated to the right side of my back, so that's something. Screamed out when I extended my arm yesterday for a package of tuna and the pain hasn't subsided since. Flat on my back in bed brings it to a 5/10. I'm really starting to get scared. What did I do? Will it ever be at a tolerable level again? -
Pain Relief?
I injured myself at work last Tuesday. I'm somewhat ashamed by this, because I went nearly a full decade without anything other than minor cuts and bruises in a warehouse atmosphere where I move a lot of heavy things and handle a lot of very sharp and pointy broken things ( Read more... ) -
Snow Job
The prediction yesterday afternoon, as the first flakes started to fall, was for 8 - 14" of snow, with localized areas receiving 16 inches.
19 inches at the airport at 11am ETA: 20 inches at the airport @ 12:45pm, and reports coming in of 24, 22, 18, etc. in my neck of the woods in more urban Pittsburgh. Last night it came down at the rate of two ( Read more... ) -

I woke up this morning thinking about death. I may have been dreaming about my mother's death, which I was not present to see. After I awoke, I thought about her collapsing, the pain she might have been in, what thoughts might have been going through her head if she realized it was the end of her life. That led me to think about my father's death, ( Read more... ) -
Deja True
Every now and then I go through things from my past, to see if I misremembered or misinterpreted the signs, the signals, the facts.
It doesn't hurt any less now than it did then to know I was right the first time.
