I walked home tonight from a small gathering where we shared stories of childhood and sipped mulled wine. It had snowed during the evening and it was a fine, dry, powdery snow -- the kind that prairie Alberta excels at. You see, it is -14 C (7 F), and when it snows at colder temperatures, the fine dry snowflakes glitter, and all the world had a ( Read more... )

We often have sparkly snow when the temperatures go down and it's dry. The timing was perfect for Christmas Eve.

Warm hugses back to you. :)

It was an unexpected treat (the sparkliness, that is. Not the snow.)

I hope you had a good Christmas with the Furry Ones. :)

What a beautiful image. You don't need a camera . . . I saw if perfectly through your words. I hope the rest of the holiday season continues as magically for you and all those you love.

The sparkle on the snow continued throughout Christmas Day -- we only got to a high of -15 so the snow didn't soften at all. Some of the sparkles in the sunlight were astonishingly brilliant. I even managed to capture a few with my camera, along with some ice crystals floating in the air (although the camera couldn't focus on those, so they're fuzzy...)

*hugs you*

The sparkles do happen once in a while because of our cold, dry climate. But the timing of it for Christmas Eve was very nice!

Merry Christmas, AEB
