Oh this is fantastic! I absolutely love the atmosphere and the family dynamic between them, especially Plen and Faraji trying to find a way to get Joy a Fliek’s dragon without making her think they're getting her one ;) And I really, really love that it wasn't even about the Fliek’s dragon for Joy. Thank you so much for writing this!

Thanks! After I spent a lot of time staring at your picture, the whole thing pretty much wrote itself. So thank you for providing such excellent inspiration. :D

This is so lovely, my dear!! The best fantasy stories tend to be about the people, with the fantastic elements almost taken for granted. It's no surprise that you've done that so well here, as you always do! There's a sense of realism and rightness about the entire interaction between Joy, Faraji, and Plen, and about the wee details of setting and context that you've included (I especially like the names. "Uncle Increase" is such an evocative moniker!!). You've absolutely brought reapertownusa's scene to life!

Thank you! *hugs*

I'm glad you didn't find the names a bit twee--I worried a little about that, but the characters refused to be called anything else, so there wasn't much choice in the matter. Joy is properly "Joy in the Morning", and Plen is "Fields of Plenty". Faraji's name means "consolation", and isn't the one his parents gave him (that's a bit of back-story I don't know; maybe I'll find out someday). Uncle Increase is actually named after a goose owned by some friends (which in turn is named after Increase Mather), so that might give you a bit more insight into his character.
